Roland DGA - Working in SRP Player Remotely: Installation Setup without Device Connectivity

Overview:

At times, there are scenarios where one may want to load files into SRP Player for testing, configure models for a print-to-file queue, or just open the software to learn the features remotely without being directly connected to a milling machine. By default, this can be problematic as the software verifies connectivity with the device before launching and will not open without successful confirmation.
However, with this quick driver installation tip, you will be able to use the software regardless of whether a direct connection to the device has been established.
With a typical installation of the MDX Series drivers, the port is set up to authenticate via USB connectivity. If we configure the setup to use a device info file, the program will then be able to launch in a stand-alone fashion. Below you will find a procedure for installing the driver.

Procedure:

1. If the driver was previously installed for your milling machine, uninstall it via the “Add or Remove Programs” option. Restart the PC as necessary.
2. Launch the driver installer for the machine. If you don’t have the driver it can be sourced via the Roland DGA website (www.rolanddga.com) under the support section of the corresponding model.
3. Select your model from the pick field and under the Port Type, select “FILE:”.
4. Complete the installation as prompted on screen, and Restart PC as necessary.

Additional Information:

Note that any previously configured Driver Preferences may have been lost during the driver re-installation. These can be reconfigured by right-clicking the device from the “Devices and Printers” option
